Greetings (again?), I just typed my first forum message and must have inadvertently hit the 'any' key which sent my message somewhere. Perhaps digital heaven, or a bit bucket in Mongolia? Anyway my apologies if it shows up in the forum as it is incomplete. Here is take 2: My copy of Total Media came supplied with a 'Kaiser Baas' 'Dual TVStick' USB tuner dongle which I'm trying to get working on a notebook PC. After wasting half the night I finally found and installed Windows 8 (x64) drivers and also located the Total Media license key (on the back of the CD sleeve.) and I now have Total Media installed and operating.
Dec 20, 2012 - I understand you are having issues with the Kaiser Baas TV Stick. Reboot, then download and install the latest driver from the first link I gave.
But there's more. When I attempt to setup Total Media the only two device choices are: o Winfast DTVDongle Gold BDA Filter & o Winfast DTVDongle Gold BDA Filter1 Both of which cause the program to abort when selected. The Kaiser Baas TVStick manual (printed in Size 1 type font which I only manged to read with a LED illuminated magnifying glass) wants me to select an AF9015 BDA Filter device and even shows a screen shot with two such devices. Now, the $1,000,000 question to this forum: Does anyone know what, how, or where I now have to go to get an AF9015 BDA Filter installed as a choice during setup??? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.
If by Monday I don't have a TV signal appearing on this notebook the TVStick will be sticked right back to the retailer I purchased it from. Cheers, ButcherBird. Thanks for your reply Jason.
Simultaneous with posting my message here I also lodged a support Ticket with Kaiser Baas. They responded within an hour and were most helpful.
They supplied a link to a PDF which explained what I had to do to get the correct device listed. I post that here in case anyone else has a similar problem: If your Stick is detected as Winfast please follow this guide: Your stick has to be recognize as AF9015 BDA to make it work with Total Media 3.5 But my problems didn't end there. With the correct device installed and now able to get Total Media 3.5 running I commenced a setup which went fine until I tried to do a SCAN. That progressed for about 2 seconds until Windows 8 generated a fatal error requiring a restart with some message about ' Kernelsecuritycheckfailure. I tried various changes to no avail and again contacted Kaiser Baas support. Again their response was very quick: This error means that you have plugged the Stick into a USB 3.0 port, The TV stick will not work with a USB 3.0 port, please plug the Stick into a USB 2.0 and it should work ok.There ends my attempt to use TVStick on our ASUS G75VX notebook!!! It only has four USB 3.O ports.
(One of the reasons I bought this model as USB 3.0 ports are much faster for data transfer, for using external drives, etc,) However I've persevered with the TVStick installing it on my wife's Win XP Pro PC which has two USB 2.0 ports. That went fine and I was able to scan all HD TV stations.
But PC problems never end. Now I'm having problems using Total Media. The screen I see only shows a small 10cm x 8cm TV picture and the program doesn't remember previous actions, every time I restart it I have to configure and scan all over again.
Once, I briefly saw a glimpse of a tool bar with lots of functions but I can't seem to bring that up again. Must be something obvious I'm missing but I wont continue with these problems here. I'll check the FAQ and previous messages before posting any further queries. Hope these detail help others who experience a similar problem trail with TVStick. It can be made to work with Windows 8 but NOT with USB 3.0 Ports!!! Cheers, ButcherBird.
